An Ideal Job

The things that would make, for me, an ideal job: (some or all of these would be great)

- Preferably non-IT related
- Some kind of physical activity involved (i.e. non-sedentary)
- High paying enough for my wife to stay home with the kids
- Feeling that the being done is significant
- Intelligence of some kind
- Ability to serve my country in some capacity (military or civilian)
- Law enforcement or investigative aspects
- Sports or entertainment based
- On the job training

I’ve been seriously contemplating a career change for a while now and feel that I’ve painted myself into a corner, career path-wise, to where I have no experience in any of the areas in which I’d like to try my hand at.

Anyone have any suggestions, ideas, or more importantly, contacts?

To Frisco I Go

I was just offered a position to for the Tenet account with Perot Systems in Frisco, TX and I accepted it. Now both Katie and I will have jobs to start after our move back to the greater DFW area. Whammy!

Katie Got a Job!

This morning Katie accepted an offer from the Plano ISD to be a 3rd grade teacher at Skaggs Elementary. That’s the ticket back to civilization we needed. Just kidding, but to everyone who extended prayers our way we are eternally grateful. Now it’s MY turn to find something.

Also, thanks to everyone that came out to our cook out at my parents house near Lewisville. We look forward to many more of those as the year progresses.

Favorite Quotes

Favorite QuotesAndy and I were talking about our lack of excitement for our current jobs and started thinking of what kinds of jobs would inspire or motivate us. As he’s going to Texas Tech Law School starting this fall he mentioned his intent to get an internship with a law firm for next summer and I remarked that I hope I’m doing something as cool by then.

I mentioned how I needed to finish my Air Marshal’s application and Andy mentioned how awesome it would be to have the responsibility of taking down a terrorist in mid-air if the situation called for it. He then mentioned how his Dad, who is a pilot for Southwest and formerly the Air Force, can “carry” while he’s in the cockpit.

My reply to that was “I imagine your Dad is one of those bare hands kind of guys when it comes to close combat and intimate mid-air terrorist ass beatings.” He then informed me I would make his Favorite Quotes section on Facebook and I decided to take a screen capture, that you can see to the left, for posterity.

He also pointed out what distinguished company I am in with others quoted such as Steve Prefontaine, Vince Lombardi, Henry Ford, and one of hockey’s greats, Wayne Gretzky.

Old Man Competition

Apparently today, at the office, has been reminisce about the old days and old man competitions. Mike, a co-worker of mine, who is 56, 5′5″, and 145 lbs soaking wet decided he wanted to prove he could still hang. His claim was to do 20 push ups in one minute and he asked us to time it for him. He was able to get his 20 in before 30 seconds was up and called it a day.

A Round Up

I get really bored from time to time and just start surfing around and I just recently happened upon a few of my favorite authors () blogs and thought I would share them with you:

Joseph Behnke

I would definitely consider Joseph a computer nerd, like myself. He happened to begin his second foray into blogdom this month. He did have another one up thedumblog, but I think he liked the free idea of WordPress a little bit better. Plus, I think he’s got much better subjects to be working with this time, i.e. , Fun, and Photos.

HollisonJourney

Ahh, what can I say about my favorite “Goth” Holly. Well, for one when I read the name of her blog I immediately envisioned Hollister or Abercrombie & Fitch. Holly, incorporate the name Hollison Journey, RIGHT NOW. She’s another good friend of mine that lives in the Dallas area and very much enjoys the writing aspect of life.

Elizabeth and Chad

Well, what is there to say about my “parents?” I can’t fault them for using Blogger since that is what I used to write with. They are currently having an exciting, depending on your p.o.v. or Elizabeth’s, few months having just moved from DFW to Oklahoma for a short stay over and then permanently, or at least they hope, to Omaha, Nebraska. Chad got a nice promotion and so that’s where they are headed. I just happen to have an uncle living there that is getting re-married in April.

I love this whole new way of cataloging one’s life because it helps me keep in touch with those I don’t see often. But if Katie and I have our way then we’ll be seeing more of the DFW crowd come July or August.
