Both Andy and Jared invited me to the Tech baseball game after telling me that we had beaten No. 2 Missouri 3-2 in the 9th the day before. It just so happens that they would revisit such late game heroics today. The Red Raiders got off to a horrible start being down 5-0 before they got anything going but stayed in the game and gave themselves a chance late. They tied the game at 7-7 late but gave up 4 more runs to go down.
That brings us to the 9th inning. We were down 11-9 and tied it up at 11’s. Then we got one out. Man on third. Missouri decides to walk our 4 and 5 hitters bringing up 6. No big deal right? He gets a few pitches and then JACKS a walk-off grand slam for the 15-11 win capping off a 6-run 9th and the series win. My voice is still hoarse. Go Tech.

According to Gizmodo, Toshiba will be announcing today that they will no longer be creating or researching the HD DVD format and instead conceded defeat to Sony’s Blu-Ray as the winner of the latest “format war.” I don’t plan on picking up a Blu-Ray player any time soon because of how ridiculously expensive they still are, as were DVD players when they first came out, but eventually I probably will. With the HDTV market becoming increasingly more affordable and the likelihood that the high definition DVD market following shortly this is pretty good news as to relieve consumer confusion over the differences. No, you won’t be able to play Blu-Ray DVD’s on your current player, however, once the prices come down on the Blu-Ray players, your current collection of standard definition DVD’s will still work just fine and may also look a little nicer due to a feature called up-scaling.

Last night I finally had the chance to watch the newest episode of the second season of Heroes called Volume 2: Generations - Four Months Ago. So far the first seven episodes of the season had become pretty lame with not much going on and boring story lines here and there. For those of you that haven’t seen it I wont go into detail but we finally get a good cliffhanger at the end of this one which had become such a great trademark of the show from last season. I am actually looking forward to seeing the next episode in a week. Now that it seems the show has finally hit it’s stride for the season it’s a little disappointing to know it’s only going to last for another couple of episodes because of the WGA strike not allowing for more production. Hopefully that is resolved soon and the cast and crew can get back to work.

The weekend started early with Andy’s bachelor party at Chris and I’s house on Thursday night. He was genuinely surprised to see both a gas grill and a wood burning smoker sitting on the back porch for him wrapped in rainbow colored ribbon and big pink bows. We had a great group of guys over for some beer, fajitas, super burgers, and poker. Along with country music and Guitar Hero, we also watched Rounders in the background while playing poker.

Surgery Day! Or at least people wanted me to have a good attitude about it. I woke up to my alarm of Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger. It helps get me pumped up for the day, yes, I know I’m strange. After brushing my teeth it was time to head to the hospital. I got signed in, they gave me my ID bracelet, and informed me they would call my name over the PA system when they were ready for me. It took them over an hour to get me back to pre-op. So, in other words, I got through two and a quarter of the same 30 minute episode of SportsCenter while I was sitting in the Surgery Waiting Room.
