Knee Update

Well, as some of you may or may not have known, back in the third week of September I began a Half Marathon training program. I was successfully able to complete the first six weeks before I had some knee trouble. Unfortunately for me it was the same knee that I had surgically repaired last year after tearing my left ACL.

I began having a good amount of swelling and fluid build up on my knee at the surgical incision site. I took last week off of running and visited the doctor on Thursday for a check-up. They could see there was a bit of an infection at the incision site and gave me some antibiotics to combat that and set me up with a follow-up appointment for Monday (yesterday).

Living Up To The Hype

Here are a few of the text’s I received as a result of my Texas beating the Texas Longhorns on Saturday night in Lubbock on national tv.

Maria M. 10:31pm: Pull it together! Beat them will ya? (OU grad student)
Maria M. 11:00pm: Your fans!
Dad 11:23pm: Oh my!
Chris H. 11:24pm: Beautiful! (former roommate, Miss. State grad)
Mom 11:24pm: That was awesome!!!
Mike B. 11:25pm: Why didn’t Leach go for two? (uncle in law)
Maria M. 11:25pm: No way! Were you one of the morons that ran on the field before it was over? You are so lucky that didn’t go badly! (Katie and I made sure there was no time on the clock before we ran on the field.)
Anthony B. 11:25pm: I have no words to describe what just happened with that game. (UT grad, bf from high school)
Anthony B. 11:32pm: Wow…that’s all I have to say, better run the table or else this will be for nothing.

Stars Win, KISS loses

KISS TributeTonight my Dad and I went to the Dallas vs. Minnesota Wild game at American Airlines Center. It was pretty great. The jumped out to an early lead only 13 seconds in and that pretty much set the tone for the rest of the night with them winning 4-2 and thoroughly dominating Minnesota.

Anyways, obviously it’s near , so lots of crazy and promotions happen around this time of year. It just so happens that prior to the game a KISS tribute band from Dallas named Destroyer played in the plaza outside the south entrance to the AAC. These guys were pretty lame and anyone that knows me knows that I’m not the most P.C. guy around and make my fair share of inappropriate jokes but when my Dad mentions how fruity you are as “Paul Stanley” then that’s not a good thing.

Two Percenters

Two PercentersThe picture to the left is a screen capture I took from Yahoo!’s College Pick’Em Pick Distribution chart for Week 8. So I guess this is what the Texas A&M folk are always talking about when they call people “2%-ers.”

Stars Win Semifinals

Brenden MorrowFor the third straight year the San Jose Sharks have failed to make it out of the second round of the playoffs. The Dallas finally put the Sharks to bed off of a PP goal by Brenden Morrow 9:03 into the fourth overtime period, the third longest in history. The goal by Morrow gave the a 2-1 win for a 4-2 series win.

The drew first blood in the second period to break a 0-0 tie but the Sharks drew even in the third to send it to eventually quadruple overtime. The game started at 8pm Sun. 5/4 and ended in the early morning hours of Mon. 5/5.

The are now slotted to play the Detroit Red Wings, the team with this year’s best regular season record, for the Western Conference Finals starting Thursday night in Detroit. Go !
