This was Pat from our hike up Ski Apache in Ruidoso, NM. If you listen carefully you can hear him waling from the extreme cold of the snow on his head and face, enjoy.

The whole idea of going to Ruidoso for a long weekend was first brought up by Chris as a way to just get away from Lubbock for a few days and relax. I was then able to successfully secure us a cabin through one of Laura’s co-workers at the bank. Chris and Adriana drove out Friday night to get everything set up and I got out there around lunch time on Saturday after having breakfast with Katie before she left for Houston.

Tags: Friends, Outdoors, Snow, Travel, WorkBring some freakin’ cold weather. Leave it to West Texas to have a white Easter instead of a white Christmas. On Saturday there was a little over two inches of snowfall in southern Lubbock with more accumulation in other parts. This was easily the latest in the year I have ever experienced snow, even outdoing 2003. Then it was April 1st or close to it I believe. I woke up to a nice blanket on the ground with it continuing ’til around lunch time, no pictures this time, I figured I had enough pictures of snow from this winter… so yeah, more snow in Lubbock helping to emphasize the coldest winter I’ve had in Texas so far.

I just got an e-mail from my brother with some pretty cool pictures from a hike him and his other Brothers went on a week or two ago, who says a religious vocation isn’t fun?
Tags: Family, Italy, Pictures, SnowHey guys,
Last week we took an awesome hike/ sledding trip up into the mountains and found some awesome snow and sledding spots. This beat the tar out of the slush on the slope in the backyard! We busted out some crummy old plastic mats that did the trick. I attached a few pictures so you can see it…the last one is solid gold…Bintang got a picture of me that makes me look like a pro, even though I’m really about to fall off and start rolling. Anyway, enjoy!
Love,
Br. Jesse

This is quite easily the coldest winter I’ve experienced since moving to Lubbock and most likely the coldest since I’ve moved to Texas, period, since 1991. I definitely have never seen this much snow. So here’s just another picture I took while walking to the office this morning. Please excuse the poor quality, it’s from my phone’s camera. Everybody stay warm and stay safe.

Check out our pictures from the day HERE.
All this last week the various weather pundits had been predicting in excess of 10 inches of snow for our area, grocery store shelves were being pilfered, and everyone was in general disarray in anticipation of the drastic weather on the horizon. Fortunately that never happened quite to the extreme that was being predicted.
