Weekdays of June 1 – 4: The master bedroom was painted “Weathered Sandstone” whatever that means.

Weekend of June 5 – 7: Tons of painting. We painted both the dining and family rooms “Glazed Pear” which is a very clean cream color on Friday night while we were up at the house until almost midnight.

Saturday we went and saw the early matinee of The Hangover (hilariously vulgar) and then painted the guest bedroom a light blue.

Sunday we had a Rudy’s picnic at the new house courtesy of my parents and painted the spare bedroom (#4) a nice tannish color and began painting the kitchen in a deep/dark red that is turning out great.

Weekdays of June 8 – 11: Monday I’ll begin painting the first coat in the kitchen and finish the second coat on Tuesday night. Tuesday we have the carpet cleaners coming by to do their worst on foreclosure quality carpet. Wed/Thurs I’ll rent a U-Haul truck and appliance/furniture dolly and begin moving us in to our new house.

Weekend of June 12 – 14: Relax and have a great weekend with poker and grilling out on Saturday with great friends Andy and Abby coming into town to stay with us.

Busy. Busy. Busy!

I’m a little impatient when it comes to my physicality and what I’m able to do and not do. Katie is happy for me because she can see that not being able to do anything significantly athletic is driving me nuts.

The down time sure has improved my poker game though. I played well enough recently to place into a $750 tournament with Rob and Rob, so we’ll see how that goes Sunday.

However, I go under the knife at 7:00am Monday morning April 6. This means that I have to stop eating at 10:00pm Sunday night, wake up about 5:00am-ish, arrive at Centennial Surgical Center at 6:00am, get in a surgical gown where your ass hangs out, and then wait around for an hour.

Dr. McNutt is planning to remove some scar tissue, excise any bad tissue (that’s not scarred), remove the sizable biomedics screw (that is no longer needed from my first surgery), and possibly perform a minor bone graft if needed.

The whole ordeal is going to be thankfully much cheaper than my last go around since he isn’t ripping tendons and ligaments from all different parts of my leg for a new ACL, since it’s just fine, it’s just everything around it that needs a bit of work. I’ll be out of work again for another two weeks. The best part of this surgery is that I won’t require physical therapy, which is super awesome.

Now, starting Monday, to get myself through the next two weeks from the hours of 9-5, what movies or video games would you all suggest I pick up to enjoy or master in my down time?

The first was from me. Rob had a healthy raise pre flop and I had KK. I didn’t want to just call and have him draw out on me cuz I felt he at least had one A, so I go all-in. Well, he’s in the tank for about 2 minutes going over his options and calls. He has AA. Flop is nothing, turn nothing, river K. Disgusting since it was the case K because Anthony had already folded one.

The second was Katie. Rob does his standard 2x or 3x big blind raise pre flop as he is prone to. Katie calls. Flop comes 10, A, 10. Another raise by Rob, another call by Katie. Check, Check on the Turn (if I remember correctly, I only remember the winner with absolute clarity because of the cards Katie had). Rob goes all-in on River, Katie calls. Katie throws down AA and I swear they hit the table with the weight of an atomic bomb. She had flopped the boat, A’s over 10′s. The look on Rob’s face was priceless. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so angry. Then Anthony took me out, Katie took Anthony out, and it was head’s up Katie and Dave and Dave won. That was probably the best slow play of AA I have ever seen. Devastating.

Of the six Katie and I were the only ones without a re-buy I think. Nevermind, Jeff also didn’t re-buy.

Here it is! I didn’t have time for the full post which will be coming in a day or two, I just had to get this up. I just finished it about an hour ago with help from Joe Keating, he earned himself dinner and a beer.

It will be bring your own beer/meat/buns, I’ve got the grill that we will fire up and cook whatever you bring. We will have sodas/juices for those not drinking alcohol. For the gentlemen, and few ladies, that would like to we will also be having a game of poker, once again the first of many, to immediately follow dinner.

He will be back in the States beginning July 18 for my wedding. In preparation for his visit back home he recreated his Facebook profile HERE to keep in touch with everyone.

He is going to be the Best Man and Fr. Jim O’Connor who will be celebrating Katie and I’s nuptial Mass really looks forward to meeting him.

Br. Peter also plans on being in Lubbock on July 19 for my bachelor party. Anyone that wants to see him before the wedding, if you are a guy, are welcome to join us then.

Tuesday I stopped by and visited with some old family friends and was extended an invite for a Christmas party the next day with their family. Christmas on Wednesday was great because it was small, nothing extravagant, and relaxing. After Mass and a bit of lunch we headed over to the McKee’s for their party and gift exchange. I managed to snag myself a monster universal remote for those that are visually challenged. I’m thinking of giving it to Katie and her roommates.

Wednesday my Dad and I enjoyed the Dallas Stars whipping up on the Minnesota Wild at the American Airlines center. We both picked up some Stars gear with some of our Christmas cash. Thursday was a family trip to the movies to see Natioinal Treasure: Book of Secrets. I highly recommend it, very entertaining. Friday I was able to switch my flight to Lubbock to Houston instead to spend the rest of the break with Katie and her family.

Friday night we watched Robin Hood: Men in Tights after getting back from the airport. Saturday was a day trip to the 40 acre plot of land that Katie’s parents and aunt/uncle purchased last year. They have built a cool shed on it and will begin house building on it next month. Kevin and I picked out our perfect spot for a kick butt treehouse that we will hopefully be able to complete over the next year. Katie and I saw I Am Legend. We both had a very “eh” feeling when it was over, not feeling one way or the other on it.

Sunday was a relax and hang out day before our 8 hour drive from Houston to Lubbock on Monday morning.

Joe didn’t get Holly the Diet Coke she asked for. Elizabeth thought I was wearing shoulder pads and proceeded to poke me to test that theory. There were plenty of “That’s what she said!” moments and my Mom talked about a banana hammock with all of us. We had to explain the “alternate” meaning of that phrase to her and she cried from laughing so hard. We literally have a miniature hammock that fruit sits on in our kitchen.

The Cowboys beat the Panthers tonight and I beat Holly heads up in poker. So all in all it was a pretty good night.

As far as the game goes, it’s on ABC with a 2:30pm kick-off. So, those of you not making the trip to Austin to watch the game can come over around 2ish. The food situation: bring whatever you want to eat or drink. If you’ll be grilling please bring the necessary things in which to do that with, we won’t be providing food this time. The grill will definitely be on, though.

For the poker game we thought it would be a good plan to have that start somewhat close to the end of the Tech game with any number of other college games going on in the background, preferably a Big 12 matchup.
