This Saturday will be my third wedding to attend in four weeks. This particular one will be for Kevin Morris and Mary Krile, soon-to-be Mary Morris. Kevin was one of those responsible for getting me involved in CSA and RA. My senior year he called me up after I had filled out the CSA census form at the end of Mass as being interested in intramurals and it was all up hill from there. Unbeknownst to us we lived next door to each other in College Park University Trails originally known as Sterling University Trails. This was way back in ‘03.

Saturday: A very easy and relaxing day, I was quite pleased. Kristen and I went and had lunch at Wendy’s, FINALLY, someone that likes going there just as much as I do. Later in the day there was the Lubbock Cotton Kings game that I got a bunch of free tickets to. A sizeable amount of the tickets I handed out actually got used. Before we went to the hockey game we all chilled and watched Tech go up 14-0 on Kansas State where they would stay and win the game handily. The hockey game was pretty uneventful, both teams are HORRIBLE, but I can’t complain, it’s the first hockey game of any kind that I have been to in over two years, dang Dallas Stars and the NHL lockout. Afterwards we all went to One Guy’s and had cheese and pepperoni pizzas. Apparently that didn’t sit well with anyone afterward because I had rumblings in my tummy and so did Abby and Kristen.
Sunday: I called Kristen to wake her up to remind her to get some studying done before mass, but apparently she had already been up early horkin’ all over the place, apparently she got food poisoning or something from One Guy’s. She would be in and out of it all day. I went and played the role of the concerned guy for a little bit before church to see how she was and she at least didn’t get sick while I was there. After Mass we had men’s softball playoffs and a regular season men’s soccer game. We got trounced in the softball game something like 17-10, it was a slobber knocker. Then I was quite disappointed because we didn’t have enough people to play soccer so we had to forfeit. It really gets to me when people say they are gonna show up for something and then don’t and also don’t even have the courtesy to call and say they won’t be there, just irks me like no other. I left early and went and checked in on Kristen to see if she was still under the weather, which she was. She has also now developed a low-grade fever, which isn’t good. We said a Rosary together again and I offered her up as my intention for the Rosary so that she would get better soon. Now it’s time to get some sleep for my first day at my new FULL TIME JOB! Tags: Church, Cotton Kings, Halloween, Intramurals, Red Raiders, Soccer, Stars, Tech, TicketsI was at the Student Center from 3pm to 12am last night pretty much non-stop, there was a break for both Daily Mass and dinner at Rudy’s, but other than those breaks I was either doing my own preparation for tomorrow or helping others with their preparations. I am so pumped about this weekend, it is going to be awesome, without a doubt! I finished the box for my table, quite possibly the coolest looking one out of everyone’s, haha, right! Marcel’s talk over Temptation was a good one, he gave the same talk this summer during “The Pebble” but he had some new points added to it for those of us that were here over the summer. It was a normal break from the Theology of the Body talks because it was a small crowd due to RA preparations by other staffers, I just happened to have some free time for it. After Marcel’s talk and after dinner I helped Sadie, Angela, and Ashley with some “office” work so things would go quicker and the stress level would be alleviated a bit. I woke up this morning and went to Daily Mass at CTK because Mark said that we should do that and then get a little something for a little someone for a little special occassion, but the boy forgot to wake up, so I went all by myself to Mass, it’s cool though. Then 8:30am rolls around and I have an interview with a Store Manager for one of the Walgreen’s drug stores in Lubbock. It went quite well also, I was applying for a Retail Management Trainee position. He said I had several things going in my favor, a few being my excellent interviewing skills and the fact that I have already graduated and completely free to start a new job immediately after RA seeing as how my job at the BA just ended today. When the interview was done I went back to the office and I got a little going away treat, a really good chocolate cake with nuts on top and Pepsi, all at 9:30am, which totally rocks! So I gave Maria, my supervisor, my beloved office and elevator keys and said good-bye to the place of work that I had been at the longest, just over a year and a month. They told me I was welcome to come back anytime, so thats cool. Me and Annie just got back from doing some RA shopping and it’s going to be awesome when our kids arrive, I can’t wait, Annie got herself a girls cow costume at Wal-Mart and I’m gonna be a cowboy, super sweetness will be had. So the things left for today are the Table Staff skit practice and going out to the retreat site to help set up for the arrival of all the retreaters yesterday. Tags: Church, Friends, Intramurals, Raider Awakening, Rain, WorkAfter work yesterday I came back to the pad for a little bit and ended up visiting some of my old co-workers in the College Park University Trails leasing office. They all love me there, apparently the new computer tech is an ass, even moreso than I was and they wish I was still working there, oh well. They made me some super huge cookie, it was awesome. I then headed down to the Super K-Mart on University because Beth and Jordan bought a futon that was too big for Yoda (Beth’s Toyota Camry). So I had to throw it in the back of my truck and take it to her apartment and assemble it for her. By the time we are finished Brian has shown up and we then load Beth’s old couch, that the futon is replacing, into the back of my truck to be lugged off and then we all head to Quizno’s on 4th. The plan is to keep the couch in the back of my truck until it either gets stolen or we find someone that wants it, yes, I know, we are terrible. After dinner I went home and got ready for our football game and headed out to the Rec Fields for the final regular season game for the CSA Apostles. It was a hard fought game with our team actually jumping out in front to start it off, but unfortunately we lost 13-16 with time expiring. It was still a good game, we got the other team to have a prayer with us afterwards and we got our first team picture with all our new duds on, that was cool as well. Then I ended up at the Student Center and began work on our box for RA. It is definitely coming out pretty well and I started to paint it and finally went home around 2am. Somehow I was able to wake up this morning at 8am for work. On today’s agenda: work, RA stuff, Daily Mass, more RA stuff ’til I fall asleep. Everyone have an awesome day, God Bless! P.S. Tags: Birthday, Friends, Intramurals, Tech, WorkAfter work yesterday I stopped by Daily Mass on my way home and got some really good hugs during the “sign of peace” exchange. I’ve been needing them because I have been worrying about stuff that I have no control over, stuff that I have been praying about, things that I should just be lifting up, but it’s alot harder than it sounds, to let go and let God. After Mass lets out me and Brian go to pick up one of his friends from way back in the day, Brandi, to take her out for her 23rd birthday. We end up at Hoote… no wait Outback, hehe. It was good times, excellent food and even better conversation. She has also offered to help me find some work here in Lubbock, how awesome is that? Anyways, me and Brian split the tab since I have some “out on the town” appreciation for hard work at the BA reimbursement thing for up to $35, so I just need to remember to take the reciept into work on Monday. After dinner we headed up to The Rock, and had a great time as always, Tricia gave a great talk about observation and reaching out to others to make them feel welcome and loved, it was some good stuff, made me realize some things that I need to work on to help others. I got to trade nametags with Melanie at The Rock this time, I can’t wait to pray for her over this whole next week, I LOVE that girl to death, she truly is an amazing woman of God. After The Rock was over it was GAME TIME! The CSA Devils had a flag football game at 11pm and we had a surprisingly large turnout of fan support, it was really great. We didn’t do so well, a few bad plays, a few bad calls, the usual. Regardless, I still enjoy playing whether it be a win or a loss. We were also all on our best behavior so that we will be eligible to make it to the playoffs. So after going to Daily Mass this morning at 6:55am, I decided that I needed a day off of work so I emailed the boss, who is super awesomely understanding and was cool with it. I then proceeded to go back to sleep and didn’t wake up ’til just 15 mins ago, just before 1pm. Ahhh, not gonna be able to do that once I get myself a real job, so I better enjoy this while it lasts. Once I woke up I called Jo-Dee’s T’s and Caps and found out that I will be able to pick up our Intramural T-shirt order today in time to take it with me to the staff retreat to give out to those who got shirts, which luckily for me, is a good chunk of those staffing RA. Ok, tonight is Staff Retreat at 5pm with free pizza, so I hope to see some of yall there and may God Bless you all! Have a great and safe weekend!

Boy do I need to start getting more sleep, I was starting to fall out while sitting in Mass. I’m sure several people noticed the violent sleep-wake up jerk that I do when I nod off like that, it was bad. Reguardless, I made it through and then Brian, Jordan, Beth, and I all went to One Guy’s for dinner before Marcel’s Catholicism 101 class. It was really good again, I always like that stuff. I got called out in front of everyone for my long hair and Laura, Sadie, and Brian cracked on me when Marcel made a general comment about immodesty… all fingers pointing to Jared and snickering, it was funny. After Marcel’s class I had a Table Staff meeting for RA aka Parent Olympics, it was fun. Annie and I didn’t win anything but we still had some fun, there was a gigantic shaving cream fight and I ended up with a shaving cream mo-hawk, several people took pics of it so hopefully I will be able get some of those to you soon. The shaving cream mo-hawk After that Annie and I went and tried to watch some of the CSA Angels girls flag football game but the Parent Olymipics/Table Staff meeting went a little over and unfortunately we got there right as the game had ended. The lost 19-0 which is kinda sad cuz they had been doing so well and I know how frustrating it is to lose in anything really. So I was able to collect t-shirt money from a few more people, so that’s good. After I drop Annie back at her dorm I roll by Hanly Hall to see Brian, Holly L., Abby, and Andy just chillin’ and talkin’. So we shoot the breeze for a little while and then Brian informs me that we are going to Cricket’s because it’s Cody’s 21st and so eventually its Cody, Laura, Sadie, Brian, and I all at the bar celebrating the big 2-1. We had a good time, everybody had their fill and returned home safely. Sadiebug and Ms. Heff I had planned on going to Daily Mass this morning at 6:55am at CTK but stayed up WAY too late and need some sleep, but I unwittingly also slept through my orthodontists appt. at 7:30am to get my retainers fitted since I got my braces off Tuesday. So, needless to say I need to reschedule that pretty quick. Well, I am at work the earliest I have been this week and there still isn’t much for me to do, so I will go and try to find something, you all have a great day today and don’t forget about The Rock and the CSA Devils game tonight at 11pm, you know you wanna come watch!
