Katie’s Mom had done a bit of sewing and made curtains for Logan’s room. You can also see the ceiling fan that I had installed.

Next you’ll see the bumper pads for the crib that Katie’s Mom sewed to match the curtains and other primary colors we have in there. You can also see the quilt that my Mom had made for Logan that we mounted up on the wall above his crib. This is a replica of the one that my grandma gave me when I was born.

Here’s the guest bedroom with new curtains that Katie’s Mom sewed that were re-purposed from something Katie’s Aunt had done. Also, another ceiling fan I installed for our guests to sleep comfortably through the night now.

Here’s a good shot of the spare bedroom. Katie hung up some of the pictures I took while on my trip to San Francisco to visit Brian back in 2005. Katie’s Aunt also gave us the single bed for more sleeping spots in the house.

Katie’s cousin, Julianne, brought us a present that we had to prominently display on the mantle. She took her favorite picture from our wedding last summer, our wedding invitation, and had it very nicely framed. She also wrote a nice little note on the back for us. Also, thanks to Andy and Abby for the house warming gift of the Red Raiders blocks.

Here’s the biggest new piece in the house. Our new dining table. I sadly had to break down the poker table that had been there for several months and put it in the spare bedroom. Don’t worry, we can still bust it out for poker nights. Katie’s parents were gracious enough to gift us their current dining set. Katie’s Mom even reupholstered the chairs for us!

Now back to some of my handiwork. Katie’s Dad found a great deal on some trees in Houston and decided to bring some up for us. The next two pictures you’ll see the trees that we managed to plant in the backyard to break up our postage stamp sized yard.

In the first picture we have on the left Katie’s book shelf built by her grandpa when she turned 1. The rocking chair was a gift to my Mom when she turned 14. The dresser we just picked up on craigslist for $40.

The second picture we have a swing from the Busbys, crib from Katie’s Aunt, and then some baby items under the big teddy bear from a co-worker of mine.

Out with the old and in with the new (and smaller).

With Logan on the way we’ve been having to switch furniture around here and there throughout the house to make better use of the space we have. The previously named “Game Room” is now another spare bedroom thanks to Katie’s Aunt Barbara gifting us two single beds (only one of which we’ll use for the time being).

Katie had planned on using the SuperSac (6′) in Logan’s room instead of a rocking chair but had recently decided it wasn’t very practical, I agreed. So we moved the SuperSac into the “Game Room.” After we did that we were offered the twin beds and decided that having as much sleeping space as possible in the house is a good idea.

This decision created a fortunate dilemma. We now had a LoveSac that was too big for the new house and Katie suggested I put it up for sale on Craigslist and use the money we make back on it toward a new, smaller Sac that she could actually pull around the house from room to room if she wanted to sit Logan in it or lay with him herself.

Well, I put it up on Craigslist and sold it today and made enough back to get a brand new GamerSac (4′) with a nice “Earth” microsuede cover. I also got a TubeSac that clips on to the top as a small neckroll. They didn’t have one in stock in the same color I picked out for the GamerSac so I paid for it and it should be in within the week. The store manager also threw in some Sample Sacs for free since I ordered three items (Sac, Cover, TubeSac) that I’ll also pickup when the TubeSac comes in this week.

All in all I did pretty good. I made more money selling my first LoveSac than I did originally paying for it and got a brand new one with a few extras. I’d say it went well.

I just happened to be walking around the backyard and with each step I took there was some serious sloshing going on and I was trying to figure out why. I finally nailed it down and man was the water flowing out of some busted irrigation pipe.

My best guess is that it had been busted for quite a long time because there was already a sink hole there when we moved in but I thought it was just from the previous owner maybe had a dog that dug it. Not so much. Eventually it stopped and the hole dried over night.

I dug out plenty of space this afternoon and got down to business.

I cut out the old jagged and broken pipe with a saw. Luckily I had some 1″ pvc pipe left over from making the Aggie golf set last year and I cut a matching piece to length. I went to Lowes and bought two 1″ pvc couplings, purple primer, and heavy duty pvc cement. Here’s the rest.

Kitchen: The lonely wall on the left was what remained to be painted the same as the rest of the inside kitchen walls. Done.

Living Room: Had to do a few touch ups here and there and Katie started decorating today with the sconces. Oh yeah, and thanks to Andy and Abby’s house warming gift of the Texas Tech “Red Raiders” letter blocks on the mantle. Done.

Dining Room: Totally done with two coats and the touch ups required after poker night. Bonnie put a butt scratch and Dustin put a shoe scratch on the wall. Done.

Master Bedroom: Touched up after Rob took a chunk out of the wall with one of the box springs. Done.

Guest Bedroom: Largely untouched except for a few decorations here and there. Andy and Abby enjoyed being the inaugural guests. Done.

Baby Room: This will probably stay the messiest room for a while while we gather up hand-me-downs in preparation for the baby. If you’ve got stuff to get rid of then please let us know, we’ll take good care of it and get it back to you when you need it. Undone?

Game Room: This is where my poker table will go once Katie’s parents bring up the hand-me-down-new-to-us dining room table and chairs. Almost done.

Hallway: This leads from the front door, past the game/baby/guest bedrooms to the living room. This was a beating to paint. It was our last one to get to and it was the hardest to get motivated for but it’s finally painted. No more rental craptastic walls in this house! Done.

Garage: I’m particularly proud of this, the weekend before last we couldn’t fit Katie’s car inside. Then this last weekend I went through and organized everything quite well I’d say. Now I’m waiting to save up for the Gladiator Garageworks equipment. So I’ll gladly accept donations for that.

This is what a 3 Year Old A/C Filter out of a rental/foreclosure looks like. We wondered why we were having some trouble getting our A/C to get cool enough quicker and I checked the filter and this is what I found. Needless to say we replaced it and we have plenty on hand to replace regularly.

This is a sneak preview of the inside of our house. Please pardon the blue tarp and painters tape as we still have a tiny bit of work to do but we just got our carpets cleaned cleaner than I’ve ever seen. So far services that had to be performed on our carpet:

1. Deep Clean
2. 3 Different Areas Stretched
3. 2 Areas Patched so far (Katie’s still at the house with them)
4. Dyed to treat bleach spots

It is completely worth it though as the house used to be a former rental property since it was built in 2005.

We begin moving in tomorrow and can’t wait to show it off to everyone this weekend.
