Well it’s been 14 years now since the Fightin’ Texas Aggies have won here in Lubbock, TX and it’s pretty nice. I hope the Red Raiders keep it that way for a while. The game started with an Aggie touchdown and ended with a near interception of Aggie QB McGee by defender Charbonett. He was poised to take it to the house but just knocked it down on 4th and goal instead. The final score, 35-7. I can live with that. Way to go Red Raiders!… In case you are wondering what Over the Moon has to do with Texas Tech football, I’ll tell ya. Once our group got back to the church parking lot after the game where our cars were we ran into Fr. Jim. He’s a huge sports fan and particularly likes the Red Raiders and Dallas Cowboys. He was decked out in his Tech gear and we went to say hi and he exclaimed “I’m just over the moon right now!” in his subdued Irish accent. It was a great ending for us.

I nearly popped a blood vessel in my forehead from screaming in jubilation at the site of seeing Nick Folk kick not one but two 53 yard field goals dead center through the uprights with :02 left in the Cowboys/Bills game on Monday Night Football. That brings my Cowboys to 5-0 with New England and Indianapolis as the only two other undefeated NFL teams. Two reasons this game was better, to me, than December 29th’s Insight Bowl between Texas Tech and Minnesota: 1.) I’ve been a Cowboy fan much longer than Red Raider and 2.) I got to watch the whole thing as it happened. The verdict may be slightly different if I had seen the bowl game as it was happening, but alas, I had more important things going on, trust me. So in the immortal words of one Jimmy Johnson, “How ‘Bout Them Cowboys!”
I’m still recovering from the “massive” weekend I had at Raider Awakening #35 up in Canyon, TX. It’s always great to staff these Awakening retreats so that I can help give back to a community that I have gained so much from. I was blessed with the opportunity to be a small group leader for this retreat and I definitely tried my best. Hopefully those at my table would agree
Lots of fun was had, personal testimonies were shared, some amazing talks were given, especially my roommate’s, and then Mass to finish off the weekend is always good. I pray that everyone that attended was able to take something from the retreat that they can apply to the rest of their everyday life in the “real world.” Start praying for RA #36 in February!

0: Wins for Texas Tech this weekend. Graham Harrell’s stats: 39-55, 342 yds, 3 TD, 2 INT, 3 FL… So if you think about it Graham really was 41-55, since two of his passes were definitely caught, and he in reality threw 5 TD’s because those two INT’s were returned for touchdowns… on BACK TO BACK plays. And what’s Graham’s reward for throwing INT’s for TD’s on back to back plays? A one series benching. Apparently that didn’t make a difference, he still had a total of 4 fumbles, 2 on one play, so only 3 fumbles lost. What a conselation… With the performance in this game Tech is most optimistically looking, with a 4-2 overall and 1-1 Big 12 record right now, at a finishing 8-4 record and an Alamo Bowl. We are most realistically looking to finish with a 7-5 record and maybe the Houston Bowl… or whatever bowl is in Houston this year, with the way we are playing no other state would want us.
