I just sat down at my desk at the office for the first time in nearly two weeks and the time that has passed has been quite relaxing. I started it all off with a day off work Friday before leaving Lubbock for Dallas and Christmas with the fam’. Saturday saw friends over for cooking out, poker, and Dallas Cowboys football. Sunday was Mass with the family and then a small Marcus reunion at the Lewisville Fox & Hound.
Tuesday I stopped by and visited with some old family friends and was extended an invite for a Christmas party the next day with their family. Christmas on Wednesday was great because it was small, nothing extravagant, and relaxing. After Mass and a bit of lunch we headed over to the McKee’s for their party and gift exchange. I managed to snag myself a monster universal remote for those that are visually challenged. I’m thinking of giving it to Katie and her roommates.
Wednesday my Dad and I enjoyed the Dallas Stars whipping up on the Minnesota Wild at the American Airlines center. We both picked up some Stars gear with some of our Christmas cash. Thursday was a family trip to the movies to see Natioinal Treasure: Book of Secrets. I highly recommend it, very entertaining. Friday I was able to switch my flight to Lubbock to Houston instead to spend the rest of the break with Katie and her family.
Friday night we watched Robin Hood: Men in Tights after getting back from the airport. Saturday was a day trip to the 40 acre plot of land that Katie’s parents and aunt/uncle purchased last year. They have built a cool shed on it and will begin house building on it next month. Kevin and I picked out our perfect spot for a kick butt treehouse that we will hopefully be able to complete over the next year. Katie and I saw I Am Legend. We both had a very “eh” feeling when it was over, not feeling one way or the other on it.
Sunday was a relax and hang out day before our 8 hour drive from Houston to Lubbock on Monday morning.

To say that the evening was a Wild one is both cheesy and cliche but I’m going to do it anyways. Tonight’s Stars game was a Wild one for several reasons. One of those reasons was they had their highest scoring game since November ‘05. The other reason was because, well, they were playing the Minnesota Wild. Their fan base is comprised of all the old bitter and booty hurt fans that hated the Stars for leaving them over 10 years ago for Dallas.
I had gotten my Dad some sweet tickets for Christmas and he was nice enough to take me. It was great. The Stars scored 3 in the 1st, 1 in the 2nd, and capped it off with 4 more in the 3rd period for that grand total of 8. Total domination. Now as long as the Cowboys win on Saturday and Texas Tech wins on New Years then I will be a happy camper. (AP Photo/Tony Gutierrez)

Tonight we had a great time with friends, food, football, and poker. This evenings festivities were attended by Angela, Joe, Holly, Chad, and Elizabeth. We ate some pretty scorched looking cheddar and regular brats with beans and salad.
Joe didn’t get Holly the Diet Coke she asked for. Elizabeth thought I was wearing shoulder pads and proceeded to poke me to test that theory. There were plenty of “That’s what she said!” moments and my Mom talked about a banana hammock with all of us. We had to explain the “alternate” meaning of that phrase to her and she cried from laughing so hard. We literally have a miniature hammock that fruit sits on in our kitchen.
The Cowboys beat the Panthers tonight and I beat Holly heads up in poker. So all in all it was a pretty good night.

I can honestly say that I think this is the first picture of the three of us (Anthony, Scott, and I) since our senior year of high school. Even then I don’t even think I could find a picture of that either. The three of us were great friends through middle and high school and played inline hockey together on several tournament championship teams as well as a National Championship team.
Since I’m in town (Dallas) for a bit before Thanksgiving I thought it would be a great idea for us to get together for the Stars vs. Kings game. That’s where we took this picture, outside of the American Airlines Center. The Stars won 3-0. Now if the Cowboys can win for the second time in 5 days on Thursday then this quite possibly could be the best Thanksgiving of all time with two Cowboys wins and a win each for the Red Raiders and Stars.

Well, at least according to Chris Kellerman. This is probably the best way to kick off the entire week off of work for Thanksgiving by having both my Red Raiders and Cowboys win their games decisively. Some might argue the Cowboys having a decisive win but their defense came up with stop after stop when it counted most. The same could be said for Texas Tech’s defense against Oklahoma. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and that you all travel safely.
