Check out our pictures from the day HERE.
All this last week the various weather pundits had been predicting in excess of 10 inches of snow for our area, grocery store shelves were being pilfered, and everyone was in general disarray in anticipation of the drastic weather on the horizon. Fortunately that never happened quite to the extreme that was being predicted.
We did luck out and get plenty of snow in the process. Friday began with plenty of rain progressing to freezing rain and on to sleet. The snow began to fall around 2pm and everyone was kicked out of the office about 3pm so that we all could make it home before the weather escalated.
Katie and I went to Mr. Gatti’s in commemoration of our one year anniversary of dating. I also happened to get her some of her favorite flowers in lilies and a singing card that played “how sweet it is to be loved by you…” We spent over two hours at the arcade after eating an early dinner winning enough tickets to get one piece of candy, six army men, a heavy duty bouncy ball, and a two-toned Nerf football.
After that we played poker at the house for quite some time. The poker thing is becoming increasingly popular amongst us, which is fine by me, never hurts to try new things. Before this past fall semester, I had never really played poker, now it’s a nice, fun pastime of mine.
Being the slacker that I am I woke up just before noon to see several inches of snow already on the ground on top of the one inch of ice. Abby came over early and Andy, Pat, and I all had ourselves a nice snowball fight. It was extremely exhausting, I found out quickly how out of shape I am still. Later Laura, Mark, and Katie came over, we made a nearly 5′ tall snowman in the front yard, took lots of pictures with it and came in the house to watch the Texas Tech vs. Kansas men’s basketball game.
Joseph, Melanie, Kevin, Megan, and Lindsay all came over for tortilla soup and basketball. Tech won it at the end and, it being a home game and all, all the students rushed the court, it was pretty sweet to watch. After the party died down Katie and I taught the crew how to play a game of Hearts, of which I happened to win. We then capped off the night with a showing of Se7en. The weekend was a good one.
Did I mention that Katie and I have now been dating for a whole year? I would say that’s pretty amazing. She will definitely be gaining sainthood someday.
