My Next Job

I have decided that my next job will be that of a Special Agent for the Department of Justice’s Federal Bureau of Investigations, . Over the next year I plan to train for the Physical Fitness Test which will be administered at my local Field Office in Dallas, Texas. This really isn’t some seemingly decision if you haven’t ever heard me mention something like this before. I had definitely expressed interest in it since freshman/sophomore year of college. My parents are good with a , the Gregory’s, that had several kids that swam with my brother and sister on their club swim team. My mom knowing that I was interested got in touch with Mr. Gregory, Special Agent Gregory, who works in the Dallas Field Office and setup a tour of his building for me.

Needless to say I was hooked. This all happened when I was 21, several years younger than their minimum age requirement of 23. It was really cool. He introduced me to his bosses, showed me his office, their on-site workout facility, garage with on-site mechanics that worked on their fleet vehicles, and their large cafeteria. He made sure I knew that the takes good care of its employees and that he has always enjoyed working there. He even showed me their surveillance room. He even pointed out to me on their monitors where the first time I was picked up by their cameras when I got off the freeway, I was definitely being watched the whole time.

Now that I meet the age requirement I have been giving it serious thought and checked out the marks I will have to meet on the physical side of training in order to be accepted as a Special Agent and decided it would be in my best interests to begin training for that over the next year and to hopefully be able to apply and begin training by this time next year. The training will be rough since it is four and a half months long in Quantico, Virginia and then I’m not even guaranteed of getting a Special Agent position in Dallas, even if it is my primary choice for assignment.

The pay certainly ain’t bad and it will be plenty exciting stuff that I think I would really enjoy, so here’s hoping that I can do well enough in my training over the next year and get accepted in to the program.
