UPDATE: I was able to obtain my Tax ID by going through the process online at the Texas State Comptroller website.
Today I became the owner of a sole proprietorship by the name of JB Enterprises by going to the County Judge’s Office (notary public) and the County Clerk at the Lubbock County Court House during my lunch break. I still need to get with the Texas State Comptroller to get assigned a Tax ID. Other than that I need to figure out what I want to use my new business for. Any ideas?
Although after doing a quick Google search, I admittedly should have done this before I went to the court house, several other JB Enterprises popped up. So, I may need to change the name, we’ll see about all that when the paperwork comes in the mail if their are any legitimate conflicts.
I don’t know about business ideas, but maybe throw your middle initial in there…which I can’t remember…but if it were Robert or something, maybe call it JRB Enterprises. Just a thought.
Colin,
I think if I end up having to do that then I’ll use either C for Christopher (my middle name) or S for Sebastian (my confirmation Saint name). Which do you think has a better ring to it, JCB Enterprises or JSB Enterprises?
