This saying couldn’t apply more fittingly to just about every player move the Texas Rangers have ever made. I say all this in reference to the Rangers offering retired Sammy Sosa, formerly of the Rangers, White Sox, Cubs, and Orioles, a minor league contract heavily ladened with incentive based bonuses and a chance to join the team at spring training in Surprise, Arizona.
It just so happens that 20 years ago the Rangers had Sammy in their organization before trading him away to the White Sox. He eventually made it to the Chicago Cubs where most people recognize him playing from. He’s been in the U.S. playing baseball now for 25ish years, spending four years in the Rangers minor league system. Let’s hope he accepts the offer and stays around for about 3-4 weeks so I can see him play when I show up in Surprise, Arizona to watch some Rangers spring training games. I’m looking forward to it.
