Yesterday as I was driving into work I was checking Perot Systems Twitter feed and saw this “Dell to acquire Perot Systems for $3.9 billion, creating comprehensive, customer-focused IT-solutions company.” Needless to say I was pretty shocked, being that I work for Perot Systems, and that I had not heard a single peep about the whole thing.
We had a company wide conference call at 10am yesterday that was your typical manager-speak of “business as usual” and this is “great for our people and our customers.” Ross Sr. said he wouldn’t have done this if he didn’t think it was best for his employees and I hope that is true.
Unfortunately we don’t know much right now other than that the transaction will be completed as early as November and no later than the end of 2009. As of right now I still have a job and I’m very thankful for that. It never hurts to update the resume though, right?
Total deja vu. About two or three weeks after Josh was born I found out that Citigroup was selling their Smith Barney business to Morgan Stanley ( I work for Smith Barney). Needless to say I was in quite a bit of panic trying to figure out what was going on and being at home I had to hear all of this on the news and not from my superiors or co-workers. Thankfully, everything has continued BAU with the exception of some paperwork changes. I hope things work out!
Thanks, I’m doing my best to stay positive.
