My brother, Br. Peter “don’t call me Jesse anymore” Bares, has been away in Italy since September 2005 due to his religious vocation of monk in the Order of St. Benedict in Norcia which is several hours drive northeast of Rome.
He will be back in the States beginning July 18 for my wedding. In preparation for his visit back home he recreated his Facebook profile HERE to keep in touch with everyone.
He is going to be the Best Man and Fr. Jim O’Connor who will be celebrating Katie and I’s nuptial Mass really looks forward to meeting him.
Br. Peter also plans on being in Lubbock on July 19 for my bachelor party. Anyone that wants to see him before the wedding, if you are a guy, are welcome to join us then.

Andy and I were talking about our lack of excitement for our current jobs and started thinking of what kinds of jobs would inspire or motivate us. As he’s going to Texas Tech Law School starting this fall he mentioned his intent to get an internship with a law firm for next summer and I remarked that I hope I’m doing something as cool by then.
I mentioned how I needed to finish my Air Marshal’s application and Andy mentioned how awesome it would be to have the responsibility of taking down a terrorist in mid-air if the situation called for it. He then mentioned how his Dad, who is a pilot for Southwest and formerly the Air Force, can “carry” while he’s in the cockpit.
My reply to that was “I imagine your Dad is one of those bare hands kind of guys when it comes to close combat and intimate mid-air terrorist ass beatings.” He then informed me I would make his Favorite Quotes section on Facebook and I decided to take a screen capture, that you can see to the left, for posterity.
He also pointed out what distinguished company I am in with others quoted such as Steve Prefontaine, Vince Lombardi, Henry Ford, and one of hockey’s greats, Wayne Gretzky.

For the fifth straight year the defending Stanley Cup champions have failed to make it out of at least the first round of the playoffs. The Dallas Stars bumped off the once “Mighty” Ducks of Anaheim 4-1 last night for a 4-2 best of 7 quarterfinal series win.
The Ducks drew first blood in the second period to break a 0-0 tie but the Stars blew it open in the third period by scoring two quick goals in the first three minutes from Robidas and Barnes. Loui Eriksson added the third goal via breakaway and Modano tapped in and empty netter with 3.3 seconds left which resulted in green and gold streamers to descend from the rafters.

Happy 23rd Birthday Katie! If I remember correctly the picture above was taken when she was a little under or over one year old. It could go either way, I’m really not sure.
Either way, enjoy your birthday and your bridal shower on 4/19!

You’ll notice a few changes over the next few days. The most obvious will be the main header or site graphic at the top of the page. I have commissioned a graphic artist to make a custom image for me and I’ll be trying out the various ideas she’s come up with over the next few days. I’ll do a little write up for her and her website once we’ve settled on something.
Also, in any of the comments let me know what you think of the different colors and designs and that will help in the narrowing down process as well.
I’ve set all the submitted designs up to change randomly with each page view so that you can see all the different ones so far.

USCCB’s Papal Visit Blog The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has created a blog to commemorate Pope Benedict’s visit to the United States this week. It just so happens that today is the Pope’s birthday, so Happy 81st Birthday Benedict! His papal airplane is also referred to as Shepherd One, how awesome is that? Anyways, you can follow everything at the link above.
