Shoot Em Up

Shoot Em UpThis is quite possibly one of the most ridiculous I have ever seen. Katie and I spent all day Saturday working on wedding invitations and needed some unwind time so we decided to pick up some Taco Villa and a movie from Blockbuster and hang out with Mark, Laura, and Kolbe. At Blockbuster they were having a previously viewed 3 for $20 sale and actually had some good on display. We ended up getting Spider-Man 3, 3:10 to Yuma, and Shoot Em Up. I had been wanting to see it because the trailers made it look like a funny, completely implausible action movie and it was the one out of the three that we got that we hadn’t seen yet. Needless to say that it did not disappoint in the ridiculousness department. I think the gunfights while holding a baby in one arm seemed to put the icing on the cake for this Clive Owen flick.

21 and Vantage Point

21Friday Katie and I went to the drive-in and caught 21 and Vantage Point on their third screen. We had a great time and really enjoyed both , something of a rarity for us when going to the drive-in.

21 was pretty awesome. From watching that movie it gave me a new found appreciation for math “geniuses.” Never in my wildest dreams could I even think about counting cards to win money in Vegas. The only way I’ll win money there is to get extremely lucky.

Vantage Point was really cool as well. I really liked the concept of showing the same time frame of actions from each character’s own perspective and continually going back to the start in which to do that. There were definitely some things that caught me off guard, but one of the important ones that would have kept the movie a little more suspenseful for a bit was spoiled in the trailers if anyone caught it. I won’t give it away though.

I would definitely recommend both of these to anyone that’s interested.

A Round Up

I get really bored from time to time and just start surfing around and I just recently happened upon a few of my favorite authors () blogs and thought I would share them with you:

Joseph Behnke

I would definitely consider Joseph a computer nerd, like myself. He happened to begin his second foray into blogdom this month. He did have another one up thedumblog, but I think he liked the free idea of WordPress a little bit better. Plus, I think he’s got much better subjects to be working with this time, i.e. , Fun, and Photos.

HollisonJourney

Ahh, what can I say about my favorite “Goth” Holly. Well, for one when I read the name of her blog I immediately envisioned Hollister or Abercrombie & Fitch. Holly, incorporate the name Hollison Journey, RIGHT NOW. She’s another good friend of mine that lives in the Dallas area and very much enjoys the writing aspect of life.

Elizabeth and Chad

Well, what is there to say about my “parents?” I can’t fault them for using Blogger since that is what I used to write with. They are currently having an exciting, depending on your p.o.v. or Elizabeth’s, few months having just moved from DFW to Oklahoma for a short stay over and then permanently, or at least they hope, to Omaha, Nebraska. Chad got a nice promotion and so that’s where they are headed. I just happen to have an uncle living there that is getting re-married in April.

I love this whole new way of cataloging one’s life because it helps me keep in touch with those I don’t see often. But if Katie and I have our way then we’ll be seeing more of the DFW crowd come July or August.

Texas Tech Shocks The World

Texas Tech BaseballBoth Andy and Jared invited me to the game after telling me that we had beaten No. 2 Missouri 3-2 in the 9th the day before. It just so happens that they would revisit such late game heroics today. The got off to a horrible start being down 5-0 before they got anything going but stayed in the game and gave themselves a chance late. They tied the game at 7-7 late but gave up 4 more runs to go down.

That brings us to the 9th inning. We were down 11-9 and tied it up at 11’s. Then we got one out. Man on third. Missouri decides to walk our 4 and 5 hitters bringing up 6. No big deal right? He gets a few pitches and then JACKS a walk-off grand slam for the 15-11 win capping off a 6-run 9th and the series win. My voice is still hoarse. Go .

JB Enterprises

UPDATE: I was able to obtain my Tax ID by going through the process online at the Texas State Comptroller website.

Today I became the owner of a sole proprietorship by the name of JB Enterprises by going to the County Judge’s Office (notary public) and the County Clerk at the Lubbock County Court House during my lunch break. I still need to get with the Texas State Comptroller to get assigned a Tax ID. Other than that I need to figure out what I want to use my new for. Any ideas?

Although after doing a quick Google search, I admittedly should have done this before I went to the court house, several other JB Enterprises popped up. So, I may need to change the name, we’ll see about all that when the paperwork comes in the mail if their are any legitimate conflicts.
