Juno and Two

JunoFriday Katie and I went out to dinner and a movie and then the hospital. We grabbed some grub at Chili’s courtesy of her cousins who had gotten her a gift card for . Then we hit up Tinseltown for a showing of Juno. This is a really good movie. It’s got a great story and the ladies will definitely enjoy it. If you want another The Office and Arrested Development reunion then I’d recommend this for the cameos as well. Juno has a great ensemble cast.

We had gone out and done all this in anticipation of our two year anniversary on Monday. It’s crazy how that time has flown by and we are now less than five months away from our wedding. It’s pretty awesome though, I couldn’t think of someone I would have a better time with for the rest of my life.

Oh yeah, we went to the hospital because I was on-call and had to fix something, nothing tragic.

Heath Ledger 1979 - 2008

Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger died today in his NYC apartment from an apparent overdose according to CNN. This is just strange. I was especially looking forward to seeing him play The Joker this summer in the sequel to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight. He leaves behind a wife and child. He was great in The Patriot and was pretty entertaining in A Knight’s Tale. Prayers definitely go out to his , , and fans as well.

In late November ‘07 I received a letter saying that my application was being put in “inactive status” because of the large volume of applicants and there were plenty of more qualified folks ahead of me and so I was resigned to that fact.

It’s All In The Name

Nameplate

After three years with Perot I finally got my first nameplate today. It is now prominently displayed on my desk for all to see. I know it’s lame but I couldn’t think of anything else to share today.

Holiday Recap

I just sat down at my desk at the office for the first time in nearly two weeks and the time that has passed has been quite relaxing. I started it all off with a day off Friday before leaving Lubbock for Dallas and with the fam’. Saturday saw over for cooking out, , and Dallas football. Sunday was Mass with the and then a small Marcus reunion at the Lewisville Fox & Hound.

Tuesday I stopped by and visited with some old and was extended an invite for a party the next day with their . on Wednesday was great because it was small, nothing extravagant, and relaxing. After Mass and a bit of lunch we headed over to the McKee’s for their party and gift exchange. I managed to snag myself a monster universal remote for those that are visually challenged. I’m thinking of giving it to Katie and her roommates.

Wednesday my Dad and I enjoyed the Dallas whipping up on the Minnesota Wild at the American Airlines center. We both picked up some gear with some of our cash. Thursday was a trip to the to see Natioinal Treasure: Book of Secrets. I highly recommend it, very entertaining. Friday I was able to switch my flight to Lubbock to Houston instead to spend the rest of the break with Katie and her .

Friday night we watched Robin Hood: Men in Tights after getting back from the airport. Saturday was a day trip to the 40 acre plot of land that Katie’s parents and aunt/uncle purchased last year. They have built a cool shed on it and will begin house building on it next month. Kevin and I picked out our perfect spot for a kick butt treehouse that we will hopefully be able to complete over the next year. Katie and I saw I Am Legend. We both had a very “eh” feeling when it was over, not feeling one way or the other on it.

Sunday was a relax and hang out day before our 8 hour drive from Houston to Lubbock on Monday morning.
