Candy, Movies, Grilling

Candy, Movies, Grilling

Wednesday beginning at 5:30pm at Casa de Chris, Jared, and Kyle we will be having a nice little celebration. The festivities will include old school horror (i.e. Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, etc.), handing out candy to the neighborhood kids that will be trick-or-treating, and out on the back patio for those that want to bring their own meat/buns/etc. with which to do so.

We simply ask that everyone coming please bring one bag of candy to help contribute to the pile that we will be handing over to the little witches and goblins and Hannah Montana’s running around outside. Please let me know ahead of time if you plan to come so that we can get a decent head count, see you all there. E-mail me at:

Halloween Is Back!

Yoda Pumpkin is less than a week away. A few of us plan on going to see 30 Days of Night at the Drive-In tomorrow. It should be a good early start to seeing a vampire movie, who knows? We might also get together next weekend for a post old horror movie marathon, those details are still in the works, so check back for more on that. Just in case you needed to be scared… BOOOO!

In case you were wondering what the heck that picture is… it’s a picture I took of the Yoda design I carved into my pumpkin from last year. I don’t know if I’ll get the chance to do another one this year, we’ll see.

Raider Awakening 37

Chris and I at RA37

37 was this past weekend (Oct. 19-21) and aside from a minor head cold it was another great one. It just so happens that this time I was Staff head in charge of 10 others. If you look hard enough on Facebook you’ll be able to see a picture of all of us on Big Blue, Atmos Energy’s tailgating smoker. We had it hitched to one of Chris’ trucks to bring out to help Cook Staff get some cooking done, they were quite appreciative. As far as I could tell everything went off without a hitch. I would just like to shower some praise on my staff for the incredible job they did. Nothing was forgotten, everything was taken care of on time, and each one of them was willing to help out immediately if there was something that needed to be done, it was great. I don’t think I could have picked a better bunch of guys and I am grateful that they dedicated themselves and committed to the weekend. I definitely couldn’t have done it without them.

LifeLock Picked

LifeLockAccording to TechDirt things went a little awry for LifeLock. Some of you may remember but most likely a majority of you don’t. LifeLock is a company that had commercials out earlier this year touting their incomparable identify theft security mechanisms by parading their CEO’s Social Security number on the commercial for any incompetent ID thief to snag. Well, apparently their security isn’t as good as was hoped and can be demonstrated by reading more at the link above. The CEO’s identity was still stolen and used to get a $500 loan, whodathunkit?

It’s A PowerShot

Canon PowerShot S5 ISThis brand spankin’ new Canon PowerShot S5 IS showed up at my door during lunch today. Katie and I had ordered it either Saturday or Sunday, I can’t remember which. Katie noticed over the last few months that her camera had been taking increasingly blurrier photos. She is a big picture taker and it was starting to bother her. Instead of picking out another small pocket-sized point and shoot digital camera we decided to invest in a camera with a semi-professional looking zoom and various other capabilities. One really cool feature of this camera is it’s ability to take video of up to 1hr long or 2GB of space, whichever comes first. That’s pretty cool to me. Now we won’t need to worry about getting a video camera. If Katie will let me I plan on taking it out to Camp Rio Blanco in Crosbyton, TX this weekend for 37 to see if we can get some good shots of the scenery out there. We’ll see!
