For the first time in over 10 years the Bares Family was all together to get some professional photos taken. You can take a look at them all HERE.

After dropping off Katie for the evening I was heading home down 19th street and saw a fire engine hauling serious butt up the road. It eventually slowed down and pulled off to the side of the road. Once I had caught up with it this is what I saw. A dumpster was on fire. It was the first time I had ever seen this. I wonder how long Lubbock’s Bravest will be on the job.
My brother arrives in Dallas today for his visit back to the States for the first time in nearly two years. I’m pumped to get out of Lubbock, but not away from Katie of course, on Sunday to visit for a few days back home. Also, anyone in the Dallas area that wants to get together for a poker night then set it up and let me know where to be, I’ll be in town from 7:30am on 9/23 until 8:20pm on 9/26.

Last Wednesday Apple came out with all brand new iPods and they were all cheaper for the same amount of memory. Since I had bought my nano the week before I figured I was just plum out of luck. I called up Circuit City and asked them when the new iPods would be in and what the return policy for non-defective iPods was and they said “14 days.” Yesterday they got the new ones in and just in time as I would be just barely under the 14 days return period and so I swapped them out. The cool part is that I actually MADE money by swapping them out since the same capacity newer version was cheaper, so I got a credit to my credit card as well as a Circuit City gift card since it’s how I bought the iPod in the first place. The major difference is that it now plays video as well as music and a new feature included called Cover Flow where you can scroll through all your music by looking at the covers of all the albums in your collection, pretty cool I’d say.

Friday night me, Katie, Abby, Andy, Colin, Rob, and Anthony all went and saw 3:10 to Yuma at Tinseltown. At the risk of sounding cliche, this movie rocked. It was easily the most awesome and intense western I’ve ever seen. I wouldn’t say I was on the edge of my seat the entire time but I was totally engrossed in it all. I really wish that more of these types of movies would get made. Bruce Wayne and Maximus were some serious badasses in this movie and Angel was easily one of the most evil characters in a western I’ve heard of. If you enjoy westerns and good movies, period, then go see this.

As is Tech’s fashion, there was quite a bit of a scare for nearly the entire first half. We were down 21-7 at one point. We managed to pull within 28-17 by half and then pulled away after halftime with 28 points to the Miners’ 3. Graham had a great game statistically as well as RS freshman WR Michael Crabtree. Our defense was abysmal in Lyle’s vaunted “Bend but don’t Break” defense where receivers constantly have a 10 yd cushion. Oh well, we can’t complain too much about a two touchdown victory especially when we weren’t in serious danger once we started going strong in the second half. We have Rice next week, good luck Red Raiders.
