In Memorium

Khaki

My parents sent me this picture of Khaki that’s about a month from before she died that was taken at the kennel that they would regularly take her to whenever my parents were out of town. The kennel has up a small little memorium for her at their website Canine Country Inn. My parents also have been putting together lots of of her for an album that I’m sure they will include this one in.

Voila!

My Knee There it is. I took this picture of my knee after seeing it for the first time (7/12) after surgery on Monday. You can see the two sets of staples over my knee cap and then the long set of staples and Steri-Strips on the inside of my leg just below my knee cap. No worries, I’m not bleeding all over the place, that is all dried. I get my staples and those Steri-Strips off on Monday. The two smaller “port holes” at the top are where instruments were inserted into my knee for the arthroscopy. There is another smaller hole farther up that you can’t see that didn’t require stitches or staples that they threaded my new “ACL” through and attached it down by where the longer incision is. That longer cut is where they did most of the , cutting away and taking out my damaged ACL and shaving down and smoothing out my torn lateral meniscus. Everything is going well, my pain is at a minimal level and I began minor knee bending exercises as well as “walks” around the cul-de-sac to keep everything flowing well along with getting me some out door time and fresh air. Thanks again for everyone’s thoughts and prayers!

Hydrocodone Helps

Knee ImmobilizerSurgery Day! Or at least people wanted me to have a good attitude about it. I woke up to my alarm of Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger. It helps get me pumped up for the day, yes, I know I’m strange. After brushing my teeth it was time to head to the hospital. I got signed in, they gave me my ID bracelet, and informed me they would call my name over the PA system when they were ready for me. It took them over an hour to get me back to pre-op. So, in other words, I got through two and a quarter of the same 30 minute episode of SportsCenter while I was sitting in the Surgery Waiting Room.

We Have Lift Off

Helicopter Friday: The weekend trip home began Friday after with a ride from Andy and Abby. They were gracious enough to pick me up from the new house, I sprung for Quizno’s on the way there, and then it was off to the airport. I got there just on time as the 6:45pm flight to Dallas had been delayed but would accommodate me (mine was originally 8:20pm and that flight was delayed over an hour as well). I ended up landing only about 15 minutes early if my 8:20pm flight had been on time.

More Than Meets The Eye

Transformers
If you’ve ever enjoyed a good alien/human sci-fi movie or 80’s early Saturday morning action cartoons to the likes of ThunderCats, SilverHawks, Transformers, Dino-Riders, etc. then you will definitely enjoy this movie. Rob highly recommended it to me and any of the I went to see it with, as well as I, will recommend it, too. It’s pretty awesome to see how far special effects and computer graphics have come in over the last 20 years. I might end up seeing this a second time in the theaters just to see it on the big screen again. Awesome.

Hit the Road Khak…i

To whom it may concern:
Please let me begin by assuring everyone that I am fully aware that animals are not humans and that house-pets don’t have incorruptible souls, and that when dogs, no matter how dear to you, die, they simply cease to exist.

That being said: DUDE MY DOG DIED LAST NIGHT GIVE ME A BREAK!
Well, at least I found out about it just now, even if it happened two days ago. My childhood and puppy grown up to be a dog named Khaki (yes after the type of pants) finally hit the road for good and ain’t comin’ back. I felt like trying to write a poem, but I’m not very good at that so I decided to just make some humorous observations about that particular pooch and pets in general.
