Major League: Back to the Minors

In less than a week the have gotten rid of Kenny Lofton, Mark Teixeira, Ron Mahay, and Eric Gagne for three no-name major leaguers and SIX minor leaguers. This all reminds me of a horrible movie that I’ve never seen called Major League: Back to the Minors. It seems that now half the team is minor leaguers. I wonder if I’ll see any of them at spring training next March if I have another chance to go, I highly doubt it. I guess things can only look down from here for the Texas .

Weekend Warriors

The weekend started early with Andy’s bachelor party at Chris and I’s house on Thursday night. He was genuinely surprised to see both a gas grill and a wood burning smoker sitting on the back porch for him wrapped in rainbow colored ribbon and big pink bows. We had a great group of guys over for some beer, fajitas, super burgers, and . Along with country and Guitar Hero, we also watched Rounders in the background while playing .

Spider-Pig

The Simpsons Movie

Kevin and I went and saw a matinée showing of The Simpsons Movie after Mass yesterday at 16. I can honestly say that it was one of the funniest I’ve seen recently. I could tell that Kevin liked it as well since he was laughing nearly the entire time I was. The opening of the movie with Itchy & Scratchy and Homer ridiculing the audience for coming to the theater and paying for something they could see at home for free was a great start. I hadn’t seen any episodes regularly in the past 7-8 years but was still able to pick up on plenty of what was going on. If you are any kind of fan The Simpsons then you will enjoy this.

Chip Off The Old Block

Clay Crown 11.5gRecently I had been wanting to get some new chips since all of my , myself included, seemed to have the same kind of chips and when we had big games we would easily get each other’s mixed up and it would take forever to separate them at the end of the night, which usually is pretty late. I decided I would look online for some good deals on chips and a new case to house them in. I went with a 500 chip case and filled it with some casino grade clay chips that look like the picture above. I found them online for a very inexpensive price at PokerChipsDepot and they arrived early this morning. I’m pumped and can’t wait for the first chance to use them, it’ll be great.

The Grind

Today wasn’t the beginning of my third week off of as I had anticipated. It ended up being my first week back. I’m actually grateful that my Short Term Disability didn’t get approved for another week. I needed the change of scenery from my couch at home and to be able to see more people and do more things.

This morning was another physical therapy session that began with about 10 minutes on a stationary bike. That is a rough exercise to get my knee loosened up with in the morning after being stiff all night from sleeping. After that I got to on Chuck Norris’ Total Gym, which I had the pleasure of doing once before I had my surgery. Some unassisted stair stepping exercises along with some ankle-weighted leg lifts were to follow.

3rd And 18 To Go

Yesterday, as Laura A. would put it, was Katie and I’s 18 monthaversary. Katie wanted to do something simple so we had “breakfast” at IHOP at 11:45am and went to see License to Wed at 1:30pm. Everything was great, who thought she could put up with me for so long, right? She claims she could put up with me for a lot longer than this. *crossing fingers*

Tomorrow will be the beginning of my third week off of because of my knee surgery. One word: EXHAUSTING. Plus I’m a huge wuss, I can’t stand up, even on crutches, for more than 30 seconds to a minute without getting a whole bunch of pain and throbbing in my leg. The PT’s tell me it will get better in the next week and hopefully I’ll be able to return to next Monday or Tuesday, here’s hopin’.
