How To Build A Poker Table (or not)

Go HERE for Table #2.

Trial And Error

Well, as you can see from the picture I decided for my first table to be only a table top and not have legs for a bit more portability with the possibility of legs in the future. I have affectionately named it Trial and Error for that exact reason, all of the trial and error that went into my first table.

There’s A Bad Moon Risin’

The weather outside is ridiculous, good thing Katie and I stayed in and she mostly did the packing and I worked on the table. Admittedly I should have helped more with the packing since it IS my stuff. The table is nearing completion as I wrapped the rail in foam and wrapped a quarter of the entire rail in the finishing vinyl. The playing surface has four coats of polyurethane on it and it’s ready for playing time on Saturday night. By the way, I’m into a new house on Friday, so if you are willing and able to help it would be greatly appreciated. You will be rewarded handsomely Saturday night with beverage of choice and all the pizza you can eat followed by a game on the new table. Come one, come all.

On The Road Again…

Top: L-R Jared, Alex, Jared, Batman; Mid: L-R Khris, Robin, Liz; Bottom: Meredith, Christine, KatieThis past weekend was spent in Dallas for nine of those of us on Leadership for RA37. Excuse me, eight, Corie wasn’t able to go with us at the last minute because of a emergency, so prayers for her , definitely. It was a great whirlwind of a weekend getting into Highland Village, where my parents live, just before 11pm Friday night and leaving after Mass and picking up lunch on Sunday at about 12:15pm. Here’s a little recap of the weekend:

Emo Student

Emo: It's Tight.

I don’t remember how I came across this page but it is easily one of the funniest things I have ever seen. If you find some humor in the entire “emo” culture, then I suggest you check out this satire site: EmoStudent.com

Early Poker Table Design

That title was for Joseph. Anyways, Sunday I was inspired to build my own table when Katie had wanted to go to Home Depot and build herself a bookshelf. Unfortunately it worked out better for her to purchase one from Wal-Mart but I still decided I wanted to build a table. Above you will see a very rough sketch of how I originally designed the table.

Scopin’ it Out

Knee SurgeryWell, this will be happening to my knee in just under another month. I have been scheduled for arthroscopic left knee surgery on July 9 at Covenant Center with Dr. Robert R. Smeyne. I will get the knee scoped out and most likely have complete ACL replacement surgery. Hopefully all goes well but I will be expecting to be out of commission, full strength -wise, until after New Years, or there abouts.

I have a pre-op appointment set up for July 2, just before Dr. Smeyne goes on 4th of July vacation. That also still leaves me free to enjoy the 3rd Annual Jared and Andy trip to 4th on Broadway this year on the 4th of July to be accompanied by mullet hunting and baseball autographs. The reason I had the surgery scheduled for so far away is that my parents will be out of the state in the last week of June (which is when they originally wanted to schedule me) and I will be . I wanted to get my done before surgery and my Mom wanted me to wait until after she got back in town to help with the first day or two after surgery.
