It was a pretty exhausting weekend, or just an exhausting half of a day and then the hard part was recuperating from that half day. The original plan for Friday night was to see Apocalypto. That changed pretty quickly when the idea of ending the semester the way it began, with poker, would be a better idea than sitting in silence for a few hours watching a movie. This new change of plans was met with enthusiasm by all.

Well, I’ve got a TiVo for sale now. Since the Dish Network receiver that I just recently got is a 100hr DVR I will have an 80hr, single tuner TiVo for you. I signed a one year agreement at $20.00 a month. I would come set it up at your place, configure the remote for you, etc. All you would need to do is write me a $20 check each month. Anyone interested? Let me know.

I received this in an e-mail from my brother who is of the St. Benedictine Order of monks in Norcia, Italy.
Hey guys,
Fr. Cassian spent last week in the U.S. having a medical diagnosis done and he discovered that he has cancer of the bone marrow. It is currently localized in his right hip, he has had radiation done on that hip and will begin chemotherapy in the coming weeks. We don’t know a whole lot past that at the moment, except that during the near future he will be weakened during the treatments. Because we depend on him a great deal, this will obviously shake things up a bit around here. Please pray, not only for his recovery, but for the monks that will have to step it up now that lots of responsibilities will be falling on new shoulders. I love you guys.
Love,
Br. Jesse
Thank you all, your prayers will be much appreciated.

Just a quick random one this morning…
I was driving to work on my normal route and everyone was slowing down to a crawl. So I’m thinking, “Oh man, there’s a wreck, and it just happens to be on the slowest, mph-wise, part of my drive to work.” As I get closer I still can’t see anything that would be slowing everyone down. Well, then I see a huge line of geese, easily more than 20, just waddling across the road at their own slow pace, not even noticing all the drivers around them. My immediate reaction to any kind of slowness in traffic is frustration, but when I came upon the geese that slowed everyone up this morning I just had to have a little laugh, it wasn’t a half bad start to the day.

So, Katie’s been raggin’ on me to start working on getting in good shape if I’m going to be serious about training for the physical portion of the FBI Special Agent hiring process. She also has been wanting to do more working out, blah blah blah, all that to be more healthy, both of us actually. Jorge told Katie that Shox work really well for his running and he runs about 15 miles a week on them. Her and I went to the mall yesterday to take advantage of some of the Christmas shopping sales to get some Nike Shox, coming highly recommended by Jorge.

One week later we still have some snow/ice on the ground. A little in our back yard and some around the medical complex at Covenant, it doesn’t want to go away. At least it’s winter now and colder on a regular basis, definitely some enjoyable weather.
Work has been pretty slow. For that matter, work has been pretty slow for the last two months. It’s getting pretty hard to stay focused when there isn’t much to do… blah.
