Buona Festa!

As some of you may know my brother is in a monastery in Norcia, “training” to become a monk, not quite one yet, but very close. He is in charge of all electronic commerce and updating their website and such so he has access to the Internet there on a regular basis. He sends me conversational e-mails here and there but mostly he sends out what I like to call mass informational/instructional e-mails explaining things about that monastic lifestyle. I decided I would share these with all of you and maybe y’all might learn a thing or to from my brother as I always do. The links to these writings of my brother’s will be to the right under Musings of a Monk.

Much Thanks

Joseph and I had been working on website stuff and he offered to help me create a new look for the site. We got together today and looked through some other websites for and stuff for different ideas. I came across a site called Digital Blasphemy which had some pretty sweet desktop wallpapers and I found the image that we took a part of for the new header on the top of this page. He helped me pick out the design for the logo and for changing a few other colors and things here and there. Once that was created it took us nearly 2.5 more hours just to get it working properly to show up as intended. That was definitely the most frustrating part for both us. So I just wanted to thank Joseph for his help and dealing with me on all this, I certainly owe the guy some food and beer. Peace…

The Writing’s on the Wall

MRI of the right KneeI had been delaying the inevitable until last week when I finally set myself up with a doctor’s appointment for both my knee and hand. I had sustained injuries to both while playing outdoor and only exacerbated them by continuing to play outdoor as well as indoor. I was able to put it off for about a month and continue to play by just wearing a brace on my knee but the problem wasn’t getting any better. So I went in and got the doc’s to check me out.

Last week I had x-rays of both my hand and knee, they came back showing no broken bones, which is good. Since I had considerable swelling in my hand and having it still very sore to the touch my doctor gave me a brace to wear of which I’m sure some of you saw, big poofy uncomfortable thing it is.

Homeland Security

Friday: Will and Haley’s wedding was the reason for the trip home to Dallas this weekend. I flew out at 6:40 (6:55 with the delay) from Lubbock International… What’s so ‘International’ about the Lubbock airport? It’s close to the middle of the US, I don’t get it, oh well, I won’t worry about it. I had to fly because I didn’t have the time to talk off early. Katie left Lubbock around lunch since she likes to drive and chilled at my ‘rents house for a while until she picked me up from the airport. We then went and saw Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. Very funny movie, I definitely recommend it to anyone that enjoys Will Ferrell’s comedies or enjoys NASCAR.

Unscheduled Downtime

Folks, I apologize for the downtime earlier today. My database server failed this morning and I was not able to get it back up. Contacting the Hostdime support team alerted them to the problem and got them to on it. This was a problem that affected several other users, not just me. But I have been informed that all is well now and the fact that I can post now is evidence of that. Ok, everyone, get back to it. And Melanie, in case you didn’t get through all my posts yesterday while at for seven hours, you now have the opportunity to get through the rest of them, may God have mercy on your soul.

UPDATED: Seven Proposals and Six Weddings…

Andy & Abby: By Their Powers Combined...…and that’s just THIS year, we aren’t even counting the weddings and couples that look to be engaged next year! So the newest couple got engaged last night, Andy and Abby. This is rediculous. Well, not this particular one, I was enlisted to help in a small part with it, so that was pretty cool, I guess it helps being roommates. So, by my count, and this is just off the top of my head, so please don’t hurt me, but there have so far been seven proposals and six weddings have been celebrated or will be celebrated by the end of the year. This is crazy. Let me see if I can go through my list, and feel free to add on in Comments if I leave anyone out, …
