So, my interview yesterday at NTS went super well! My interviewer was very impressed by me showing up to the interview in a suit! He was like “FYI, the dress code at NTS is casual.” So that went pretty well, he is considering me for the open position in his department as well as recommending me for an interview with the IT dept manager, how cool is that? Right up my alley! After the interview I hustled back to work for a few hours and munched on some of the candy I got from Wentz Ortho. last week when I got my braces off. I ducked out of work at my regular time instead of staying late til 5 and caught a quick nap at the Student Center before Daily Mass. After that I went and had a little something for dinner before heading back to the Student Center for some Table Staff skit practice, slowly fine tuning this and with help from the costumes will make this the best Saturday night skit. After that it was off to the Rec Fields for a makeup flag football game for the CSA Apostles. We ended up not having enough guys and played a man down the whole game. We ended up losing 0-24, I think, not sure. But regardless, we had a good time. I especially think that it is really awesome that we have such great team unity and we look good out on the fields all wearing the same CSA Intramural shirts. After that game was over I headed back to the Student Center for the Young Adult Small Faith Group. Last night’s was just basically a birthday party for one of our group members, Chris. We had cake and cookies and soda and all that good stuff. After that was over we began work on our shirts for the Table Staff skit, or more accurately, Nicky, Holly, and Natashia started on them, hehehe. Holly informed me that they are almost finished this morning. This morning I decided that I would just go to Daily Mass in the afternoons this week after work because I need sleep because this prolonged lack of sleep, my own fault, is really starting to adversely affect me badly. Plus I will need to be as alert as possible this upcoming weekend. After I get off work today around 3pm, I plan to head up to the Student Center and start working on my box for RA, ours is gonna rock the house. The it’s Daily Mass at 5:30pm, more RA preparation and a CSA Apostles football game tonight at 10pm, come out and support please!!! Anyways, may you all have a Blessed day! Peace and Love.

Friday: After lunch and stopping by the bank on Friday, I went to go pick up our Intramural shirts from Jo-Dee’s. I get there about 3pm and all 65 shirts are “finished.” Well, not quite, they accidentally taped off the bottom of the design and didn’t screen “Athletics” on the bottom of the logo, so they had to rush them to the back in the next 2 hrs while I hung out at the Student Center waiting for them to be finished in time for the Staff Retreat so that I could hand out a good majority of them to those that placed orders. The Staff Retreat was great, I am so pumped about getting to be a Dad at RA #31, I sure hope everything goes well. After Staff Retreat we stop by Hollywood Video on 82nd and visit Kevin S. who had to work and wasn’t able to make it to Staff Retreat. While there we pick up Mean Girls and Mystic River, we end up getting forced to watch the former, due to all the girls that were present. By the time the movie was over and we were done talking it was nearly 3am. And I still had to try to sleep a little bit before the Red Raider Road Race! Mark playing the drum stick flute Mark doing the “Chubby Bunny”
Saturday: Well, I woke up quite possibly the earliest I have ever woken up on a Saturday in years. Me, Mark, Pat, and Mike ran the Red Raider Road Race at 8am. I had so much fun, it was only a 5K and it was the first time I had ran in nearly a month, but it was still good. I got 101 overall and 7 in my age division of 20-24, Mike got 5 in our age division and Mark got 8, I don’t remember exactly what Pat got, but he did much better than I. After the Race was Jorge’s sending off breakfast at Josie’s, he is heading back to Mexico, but he really wants to find a job here. Then it was back to the pad for some much needed rest. I slept, woke up, took a shower, watched a little TV, and slept some more until Sadie called me at 4:30pm letting me know they were on their way over and that I needed to wake up and get ready for the football game at 6pm. It is so awesome having season tickets and not having to get to the game extremely early. Well, I’m sure you all heard about it, but in case you didn’t, Texas Tech whomped on Nebraska 70-10, our points by quarter were 7, 14, 21, and 28, we just decided to score 7 points more per quarter than the one before, can’t argue with that. After the game we all went to Rosa’s for a little bit, the crew there was eventually Me, Laura, Sadie, Mike, Mark, Brian, Pat, Andy, Abby, Cori, and Adam. After that we went over to Pope’s for a little bit and watched some College GameDay Final and instead of saying what a great game Tech had, they just focused on how BAD Nebraska played, thanks guys!
Sunday: I end up sleeping ’til around 12:15 when Mark calls me to get my butt up to the Student Center to work on our super secret, super awesome Table Staff skit, trust me people when I say this, our skit will blow yours out of the water, no contest! After several hours of rehearsal we have a very good part of it down and soon will fine tune it over the week in preparation for a dynamite skit. I then went back to the apt and contacted many a CSA’er reminding them of softball at 7/8pm after Mass so that we would have enough people show up. Then it was off to the pre-Mass Rosary, Mass, and then off to the softball fields to begin the CSA softball domination. The co-rec game at 7pm was quite exciting, we ended up the game in a 4-4 tie, which is much more than I could ask for considering it was the first time we had played together. Then immediately after the guys team played. That game wasn’t so much exciting as it was high scoring, the other team had only 8 to our 10 players but it was basically a slug fest. The final score? 20-19, CSA wins! Then we had a 1 hr break between the end of the softball game and the co-rec football game, so I gave the rest of the game shirts to Phillip since he was going to be there early and the crew of Me, Brian, Holly T., Sadie, Sarah, and Angela went to Rosa’s for dinner and then headed over to the football Rec Fields. It was a hard fought game with a time expiring, game winning touchdown from Phillip to Kandis making the final score 18-9. The lovely ladies Sadie and Angela “thuggin’ it”
Monday a.m.: So I woke up early this morning and went to Daily Mass, which is especially important this week because of RA. After Mass I went back home, got dressed for the day and headed to Express Staffing Services to put myself into consideration for several open positions all around Lubbock. Then it was off to Sonic for breakfast, seeing as there is nothing to eat in my apartment. Then I had to go to Wentz Orthodontics to reschedule my retainer fittings for tomorrow (Tuesday) at 2:30pm because I forgot to wake up for my 7:30am appointment last Thursday morning. And now I’m at work. I have an interview later today at 1pm with NTS Communications at their corporate office, so hopefully something will come of that, but your prayers would definitely be appreciated, everyone have a great day and God Bless!
Tags: Random, Tech, Texas Tech, Tickets, TV, WorkAfter work yesterday I stopped by Daily Mass on my way home and got some really good hugs during the “sign of peace” exchange. I’ve been needing them because I have been worrying about stuff that I have no control over, stuff that I have been praying about, things that I should just be lifting up, but it’s alot harder than it sounds, to let go and let God. After Mass lets out me and Brian go to pick up one of his friends from way back in the day, Brandi, to take her out for her 23rd birthday. We end up at Hoote… no wait Outback, hehe. It was good times, excellent food and even better conversation. She has also offered to help me find some work here in Lubbock, how awesome is that? Anyways, me and Brian split the tab since I have some “out on the town” appreciation for hard work at the BA reimbursement thing for up to $35, so I just need to remember to take the reciept into work on Monday. After dinner we headed up to The Rock, and had a great time as always, Tricia gave a great talk about observation and reaching out to others to make them feel welcome and loved, it was some good stuff, made me realize some things that I need to work on to help others. I got to trade nametags with Melanie at The Rock this time, I can’t wait to pray for her over this whole next week, I LOVE that girl to death, she truly is an amazing woman of God. After The Rock was over it was GAME TIME! The CSA Devils had a flag football game at 11pm and we had a surprisingly large turnout of fan support, it was really great. We didn’t do so well, a few bad plays, a few bad calls, the usual. Regardless, I still enjoy playing whether it be a win or a loss. We were also all on our best behavior so that we will be eligible to make it to the playoffs. So after going to Daily Mass this morning at 6:55am, I decided that I needed a day off of work so I emailed the boss, who is super awesomely understanding and was cool with it. I then proceeded to go back to sleep and didn’t wake up ’til just 15 mins ago, just before 1pm. Ahhh, not gonna be able to do that once I get myself a real job, so I better enjoy this while it lasts. Once I woke up I called Jo-Dee’s T’s and Caps and found out that I will be able to pick up our Intramural T-shirt order today in time to take it with me to the staff retreat to give out to those who got shirts, which luckily for me, is a good chunk of those staffing RA. Ok, tonight is Staff Retreat at 5pm with free pizza, so I hope to see some of yall there and may God Bless you all! Have a great and safe weekend!
Tags: Birthday, Church, Friends, Intramurals, Raider Awakening, WorkYesterday after work I headed to Daily Mass. Boy do I need to start getting more sleep, I was starting to fall out while sitting in Mass. I’m sure several people noticed the violent sleep-wake up jerk that I do when I nod off like that, it was bad. Reguardless, I made it through and then Brian, Jordan, Beth, and I all went to One Guy’s for dinner before Marcel’s Catholicism 101 class. It was really good again, I always like that stuff. I got called out in front of everyone for my long hair and Laura, Sadie, and Brian cracked on me when Marcel made a general comment about immodesty… all fingers pointing to Jared and snickering, it was funny. After Marcel’s class I had a Table Staff meeting for RA aka Parent Olympics, it was fun. Annie and I didn’t win anything but we still had some fun, there was a gigantic shaving cream fight and I ended up with a shaving cream mo-hawk, several people took pics of it so hopefully I will be able get some of those to you soon. The shaving cream mo-hawk After that Annie and I went and tried to watch some of the CSA Angels girls flag football game but the Parent Olymipics/Table Staff meeting went a little over and unfortunately we got there right as the game had ended. The lost 19-0 which is kinda sad cuz they had been doing so well and I know how frustrating it is to lose in anything really. So I was able to collect t-shirt money from a few more people, so that’s good. After I drop Annie back at her dorm I roll by Hanly Hall to see Brian, Holly L., Abby, and Andy just chillin’ and talkin’. So we shoot the breeze for a little while and then Brian informs me that we are going to Cricket’s because it’s Cody’s 21st and so eventually its Cody, Laura, Sadie, Brian, and I all at the bar celebrating the big 2-1. We had a good time, everybody had their fill and returned home safely. Sadiebug and Ms. Heff I had planned on going to Daily Mass this morning at 6:55am at CTK but stayed up WAY too late and need some sleep, but I unwittingly also slept through my orthodontists appt. at 7:30am to get my retainers fitted since I got my braces off Tuesday. So, needless to say I need to reschedule that pretty quick. Well, I am at work the earliest I have been this week and there still isn’t much for me to do, so I will go and try to find something, you all have a great day today and don’t forget about The Rock and the CSA Devils game tonight at 11pm, you know you wanna come watch!
Tags: Birthday, Braces, Church, Intramurals, Raider Awakening, WorkBefore I left work yesterday, Shabbs stopped by my office to pick up a camo shirt from me to be used by a friend of Cori’s for something and to say hi. She complimented me on how my teeth looked after getting the braces off. Just little things like that make my day. Once closing time rolled around I ducked out a little early and headed over to the Intramural office in the Rec Center and signed CSA up for a Co-Rec soccer team. The name is CSA Army of God and the games times are Mondays at 8pm. I should hopefully have the actual dates up on the website within a week or so. After that it was time to head over and watch the girls CSA Angels team play a make-up at 5pm. They again mercied the other team with a score of something like 36-0? Needless to say our girls are really good and have yet to be scored on. Tonight they have their third, and final regular season game before the play-offs start. It should be a pretty good game. After that game was over me and Brian went and had dinner at Carino’s. I got the chicken fettucine and was barely able to finish less than a fourth of it, so I’m gonna have a really good, late lunch today. When we were done eating we headed back to his place for a little bit to wait for Mark to get off work and we watched a little of the Vice Presidential debates. Apparently Edwards had nothing new to say other than rehashing everything Senator Kerry said in the Presidential debate last week. After a while we headed back up to the Rec Fields for the Co-Rec CSA Apostles game vs. H.S.S. Unfortunately we only had three girls so we had to play 7 on 8. We played really well for being a man down the whole game, not to mention Mary getting jacked and splitting her lip open and being a soldier and playing the rest of the game. I scored two 60+ yard touchdowns off of long bomb passes from Cody. The game was suspended with under 2 mins left because of lightning with us trailing 18-12 needing only one score to tie, so hopefully we can pull it out once the replay is scheduled. We had a fair amount of fans watching the game due to the inclement weather. Brian, Sadie, Nicky C., Krystal, Stacie, and Holly’s boyfriend all showed up to support. Sadie also brought me a bag of “braces off” candy, aka stuff I wasn’t supposed to be eating while I had them on. That girl is awesome! I probably couldn’t say enough good things about her. After the game, I went home, took a shower, hung my stuff out to dry and hit the sack. This morning I had a skills test to take at NTS for a possible CLEC Provisoner position and I was told that I passed with flying colors and that I was a candidate for an interview and I just finished filling out the online application that their HR lady sent me, so maybe something will come of that! Anyways, I should probably get back to work and don’t forget the final regular season game for the CSA Angels tonight at 10pm, everybody come out and support! May you all have a wonderful day and God Bless!
Tags: Braces, Friends, Intramurals, Soccer, WorkMonday started off awesome as just about all my days do with Daily Mass. Then I had 6 beef toquitos for breakfast, interesting, I know. Then all day at work I built a brand new laptop to use as a template for 19 others that are all apart of a new program in the BA called the Student Managed Investment Fund or SMIF for short. Lunch time rolled around and it was time to head back to the pad to pay rent. I still had hours that I worked at Sterling before they let me go so that was a nice little discount on the rent and then had lunch, two hotdogs to be precise. Then I stopped off at the Student Center on the way back to work and said hey to Mary, the awkward hug girl. I then got a reimbursement check for Intramural sign-ups from Marcel and went and put that in the bank. Then it was back to work to finish the base laptop. Then on the way back home around 5pm I picked up Melanie to take her to Daily Mass at St. E’s. It is just amazing to me how beautiful Women of God are, every time I go to church, I’m just blown away at the beauty of it all. God sure as heck knew what he was doing. After Daily Mass I went home and trimmed some of the laminate off of the posters that Laura took to Evans and laminated for me. Then after that I met Mark and Brian up at Chimy’s for dinner again. The reason we went again so soon is because they didn’t close their tabs on Saturday night before we left so we ate dinner and they picked up their credit cards. Then to pass the time in between dinner and Graduate Small Faith Group Brian decides he needs a haircut, so he and I head up to Regis at the mall and he gets a trim. Last night was a little light on attendees because of some CSA meeting, but it was all good. Jerry’s contemplative prayer technique to end our meeting was really awesome, I will look forward to his talk next week on it all. Afterward Brian and I stopped by Wendy’s, got some Frosty’s and chilled at 334 for a little bit. I awoke this morning well rested and went to Daily Mass at 8:15am instead of the usual 6:55am because I was going in to work late today, because at 10am… I GOT MY BRACES OFF!!! I’m so freakin’ pumped! Also, there are two Intramural games today, CSA Angels girls team plays at 5pm and the CSA Apostles co-rec team plays at 10pm, so come out and support! I hope everyone’s day is as awesome as can be, God Bless!
