Wednesday I took Katie and my parents to Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco for the 2009 Texas League All-Star Game.
We were able to go because a few months back I did a photo shoot for a high school graduate (Rob) of a co-worker of mine. Since it was my first gig I felt a bit uneasy charging much because I’m still quite green and untested. Rob’s mom, Dawn, insisted on some form of compensation and that included 4 All-Inclusive Founder’s Access tickets to the Texas League All-Star Game.
Katie and I got to pretend like we were rich for a day and we were quite thankful for it especially because of how hot it was. We had access to the JCPenney Club, Mirassou Sunroom, Hemi Lounge, and Sports Den.

The above picture was our view of the field during pre-game and the Home Run Derby. It was pretty sweet. The tickets also included all you can eat and drink (including alcohol). We took advantage of both and enjoyed ourselves. Other than cheering for the few Frisco Roughriders who were in the game we didn’t have much of a rooting interest so we just took in the atmosphere.
After the game we enjoyed a fireworks show that included theme songs to Star Wars, Superman, and Indiana Jones. It was a venerable smorgasbord of John Williams’ tunes. Overall, the night was a blast, thanks again Dawn!

Storm had her first mud bath while we were gone this afternoon and evening. She looked so pitiful, it was hilarious.

Storm is sleeping right now but she is already a great dog. The picture we showed a few days ago was going to be our second choice since the one we actually got was spoken for at the time. The couple that had claimed our first choice backed out and we got Storm that you see here. She has camped out on the cold tile right in front of our fireplace and in the kitchen since we’ve been home. She’ll be super happy to meet everybody when folks stop by.

Note: I was poking around my blog and saw that I had a draft waiting to publish and for some reason I never got around to it. This was from 3/9/2009.
This past weekend it was great to see all our friends and “family” again after having been away for about four months. Abby and Katie planned a very tasty dinner for Saturday night for 200+ and we had arguably the largest alumni staff show up to help serve current student staff and retreaters. It was great. Grilling on Big Blue all day Saturday. Filling the house with burnt bean smoke Friday. Baby mustaches. Mama Juana. Old friends. These were all good memories from the weekend and Katie and I look forward to next time.

Katie and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary at the Rangers vs. Astros game on Wednesday. It was $1 hotdog night and I had high hopes of high numbers but after eating only three of the kiddie dogs I just lost all appetite. There is a reason the jumbo dogs are more expensive, they certainly taste better. We haven’t yet had a chance to try our wedding cake but that time will come I’m sure.

This is what a 3 Year Old A/C Filter out of a rental/foreclosure looks like. We wondered why we were having some trouble getting our A/C to get cool enough quicker and I checked the filter and this is what I found. Needless to say we replaced it and we have plenty on hand to replace regularly.
